Greater Phoenix is Poppin'

MarCom Gold Award Winner for Special Event Branding
Executive Summary
GPEC gathered its partners to celebrate a record-breaking year at "Greater Phoenix is Poppin,'" a vibrant evening themed in conjunction with the organization's local art exhibit displayed in-office by the same name.
GPEC worked with local business State Forty Eight to develop a fun t-shirt to be gifted to attendees. The design not only echoed the theme of the event but also reflected the work GPEC does on behalf of Greater Phoenix.
The cactus cutouts that flank each side of the stage were designed in-house by GPEC Art Director, Stefanie Carson, and sent to the Arizona Science Center's CREATE studio, where they were created from 3/4" plywood. The GPEC team then spent two days sanding and painting them.
Each year, GPEC recognizes a handful of individuals and organizations that have made a profound impact on the region. The GPEC Art Director captured their headshots and created pop-art, comic book-inspired 3D backlit prints that cohesively tied them into the overarching theme.
By the Numbers
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the GPEC team had to be very mind of the budget. We never allowed the limited budget to impact creative solutions. Total event budget was 19.5% of net spend of previous Annual Event + Holiday Open House, last held in 2019. We achieved an 80.5% savings by change in venue, partnerships, donations, sponsorships and DIY crafting.

Event Photography
I photographed the event using my Canon 5D Mark IV, mounted with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens. My goal was to capture the energy and natural interaction of the attendees, with the resulting images slated for posting on our various social channels.
GPEC was awarded a Gold MarComm Award for Branding of a Special Event. Video was shot and edited by Itzel Rios Soto, marketing intern, GPEC.
